Domestic Short Hair - Black - Shadow - Declawed - Medium
Shadow is a striking all black short hair, except for a very few white hairs on his chest. He gives a soft little trill and chirp when he sees you,but is otherwise not a very vocal cat. Our vet estimates that Shadow is at least 14 years old. so he is looking for a quiet retirement home.Maybe because of his time on the streets, we don't really know, but Shadow is very anxious being with other cats, unless they totally ignore him, so we have him separated from others. He'd most likely be happier being your one and only. We know it will take someone special to adopt him - is it you - or someone you know? This poor guy was found outside in the cold, in a bad neighborhood where the cats are relentlessly chased by dogs. Alone, hungry, and fending for himself was surely not what this older gentleman was dreaming of at his age. We had been giving him a mild pain reliever daily (in a yummy pill pocket) but we have found that he really only needs it during the cold weather. His front paws are painful from the declaw in addition to an earlier injury that didn't heal correctly. He is now able to climb a cat tree so he can lounge in the window and watch the birds. He loves his cat tree, and will sit all day on the window sill, so he is obviously feeling better. Despite being a senior, Shadow has no special dietary needs other than eating only canned food. He has all his teeth, but dry food (and too many treats) bind him up, so we limit the dry food and treats to just a few kibbles daily. We ran a complete blood panel on him and all the values came back within the normal range, except he is now hyperthyroid. He is on the liquid version of the medicine which he easily takes. Shadow was already neutered and declawed when we rescued him, and he has tested negative for both FIV and FeLV, is current on all his shots, and now has one of our microchips. Shadow is being fostered in Worcester.
